Message us on WhatsApp🏖️ West Bay — Fine Dining & Beach Restaurants
West Bay has the island's highest concentration of upscale restaurants, anchored by two boutique resorts — Kimpton Grand Roatán and Ibagari — that brought serious culinary talent to the coast.
Alera Kimpton Grand Roatán · Mediterranean fine dining
The signature restaurant at the new Kimpton resort, led by Argentine chef Guido Ojeda. Mediterranean technique applied to local Caribbean ingredients — reef-caught fish, plantains, tropical fruits. The dining room is open and elegant; ask for a table near the windows at sunset. Reservations recommended.
Best for: anniversary dinners, special occasions, dressed-up evenings.
Sea Cat Kimpton Grand Roatán · California-meets-Caribbean
The Kimpton's more laid-back option. Fresh salads, ceviches, grilled fish, good cocktails. You can walk in straight from the pool.
Best for: casual lunch, relaxed dinner, families.
Luna Muna Ibagari Boutique Hotel · International with ocean views
Ibagari is a small, design-forward boutique hotel just north of West Bay beach. Luna Muna serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with sweeping ocean views — one of the most romantic dinner settings on the island.
Best for: romantic dinners, sunset cocktails, special-occasion lunches.
Bite on the Beach Casual seafood, feet in the sand
The classic West Bay experience. Tables on the sand, fresh fish, simple grilled preparations. Excellent for lunch after a morning of snorkeling at West Bay reef.
Best for: post-beach lunches, casual dinners.
Bananarama Beach Restaurant Long-standing beach institution
At the foot of Henry Morgan resort. Solid menu of seafood, burgers, salads, tropical cocktails. Known for sunset happy hours and live music. Stays open later than most West Bay restaurants.
Best for: late dinners, drinks, casual atmosphere.
🌅 West End — The Heart of Roatán's Food Scene
Small, bohemian and packed with personality. The main road runs along the water for about a kilometer, with most restaurants on it. Park once and walk everywhere.
Earth Mama's Garden Café Breakfast, coffee, vegan-friendly
Tucked into a garden setting just off the main road. Açai bowls, smoothies, eggs, fresh bread, specialty coffee. A favorite of dive instructors and digital nomads.
Best for: breakfast, lunch, vegetarians, post-dive recovery.
Sundowners Sunset beach bar
The most iconic spot in West End for watching the sunset over the water. Food is solid (burgers, fish, fries) but you come for the atmosphere. Get there 30 minutes before sunset for a beachfront seat.
Best for: sunset drinks, sharing plates, casual evenings.
Argentinian Grill Steaks, parrilla, big cuts
South American grill from Argentine owners. Excellent beef, chimichurri, empanadas. A welcome break from seafood when you've had your fill of fish.
Best for: steak cravings, group dinners, meat lovers.
Casa Nelba Argentinian street food in West End
Empanadas argentinas with many filling combinations, choripán with chimichurri, and delicious Argentinian alfajores. Casual, perfect for a quick bite or a sit-down treat right on West End's main road.
Best for: empanadas, choripán, alfajores, casual lunches and snacks.
West End is 10–15 minutes from West Bay by road. If you've had a few drinks at Sundowners, don't drive back — we'll come pick you up.
Book a return ride🐢 Sandy Bay & the North Coast
The Mariner Reef-fresh seafood
A locally loved spot for grilled fish, conch and lobster in season. Casual setting, generous portions. The kind of place where the catch of the day was actually caught that day.
Best for: seafood lovers, lunch with a view.
Anthony's Key Resort Restaurant Open to outside guests
Anthony's Key is one of Roatán's longest-standing dive resorts. Their main restaurant is open to non-guests by reservation. Built over the water with the resort's bottlenose dolphins visible from the deck.
Best for: a memorable lunch when visiting Bailey's Key for the dolphin encounter.
🌺 Flowers Bay — One Hidden Gem
Gio's Restaurant Seafood institution
Family-run, in Flowers Bay just south of Coxen Hole. Famous across the island for king crab. Casual setting on the water, no frills, but the seafood quality is among the best on the island.
Best for: a serious seafood meal, lunch trip away from West Bay crowds.
Flowers Bay is about 20 minutes from West Bay. Roads can be rough — we recommend a private roundtrip transfer for this one. Driver waits while you eat, brings you home after.

🌴 East End — Jonesville, Oak Ridge & Punta Gorda
This is the authentic Roatán — Garífuna villages, fishing communities, mangroves, no resort developments. The drive from West Bay is 60–90 minutes but the experience is worth it.

Hole in the Wall Jonesville Bight · Reach it by boat
Reachable only by boat through the Jonesville mangroves, this open-air restaurant sits on stilts over the water. Fresh fish, full bar, lively Sunday afternoons. Many cruise excursions stop here.
Best for: a half-day East End adventure, scenic lunches.
🥥 Local Food You Shouldn't Miss
Beyond restaurants, Roatán has a small but deep tradition of street food and Garífuna cuisine. Anywhere you see these on a menu, order them:
- Baleadas — Honduras's signature street food. Flour tortilla, refried beans, queso fresco, sour cream. Found at roadside stands across the island.
- Machuca — Garífuna soup of plantains pounded with coconut milk and fish. Best in Punta Gorda.
- Sopa de Caracol — Honduran conch soup with coconut milk. The dish made famous worldwide by the song.
- Pan de Coco — Garífuna coconut bread. Sweet, dense, perfect with coffee.
- Garífuna cultural experience in Punta Gorda — visit the village, meet local cooks, eat traditional food while learning the culture.
🚐 Practical Tips for Eating Around Roatán
- Reservations: recommended for Alera, Luna Muna and sunset spots on weekends. Casual places (Sundowners, Earth Mama's, Bite on the Beach) take walk-ins.
- Payment: Lempiras (HNL) is the local currency; US dollars accepted in tourist zones. Credit cards work at upscale spots; bring cash for BJ's, street food and rural restaurants.
- Tipping: 10–15% is customary. Many restaurants already add 10% service charge — check before adding more.
- Hours: West Bay restaurants close around 10 PM. West End stays alive until midnight or later. East End restaurants close after lunch.
- Transportation: distances are short but roads vary. Taxis are inconsistent at night. The easiest option is to arrange a private roundtrip transfer — fixed price, local driver, optional wait-and-return service.
